FATA to Be Merged With Khyber- Pakhtoon Khawa

The FATA suffered the most as compared to any region in Pakistan by terrorism and terrorist activities during last few years. FATA was the main centre of the terrorists and they conduct and plan every terrorist activity in this region. As the world knows that FATA is that part of Pakistan which is severely hit and damaged by the terrorist activities in recent years. FATA is the main headquarter of almost every terrorist group not from Pakistan but also from other countries like Afghanistan and Azerbaijan etc. as well which are busy in destabilizing Pakistan.

Federally Administered Tribal Areas:

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) consists of two types of areas that are Tribal Agencies normally known as Tribal Districts and Frontier Regions (FRs). There are seven Tribal Agencies and six Frontier Regions which are: Bajaur Agency, Mohmand Agency, Khyber Agency, Orakzai Agency, Kurram Agency, North Waziristan Agency and South Waziristan Agency these are from North to South while Frontier Region Peshawar, Frontier Region Kohat, Frontier Region Bannu, Frontier Region Lakki Marwat, Frontier Region Tank and Frontier Region Dera Ismail Khan these are from North to South respectively.

Military Operations in FATA:

Pakistan has already suffered a lot through the hands of terrorism not only our army personals but our civilians as well as by our children in a massive amount and now it is the right time to move on and take right decisions and right steps to remove terrorists from their roots. The military operation in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and surrounding areas was started with an objective and aim to clear all the leftovers of the militant organizations and to completely ruin and smash their hideouts and to shatter their networks into small bits and pieces along with their supporters who support them in conducting these terrorists activities in different parts of Pakistan. The successful completion of the military operation conducted by Pak Army in FATA region shows that Pak military has left no chance for negotiations with any terrorist groups or militant’s organizations.

Media on FATA Operation:

Many journalists, analysts and media channels condemn the decision of Pakistan Army on becoming the ally in “War on Terror” and some of them also thinks that Pakistan Army is the main reason and cause which is responsible for the birth of Taliban in Pakistan after the civil war of Afghanistan in 1991. A lot of discussion is under consideration on the media on this on-going military operation in FATA region, some of the analysts take this operation as a positive step which is compulsory for pulling out the disease of terrorism from the country. While other analysts thinks that this operation was a poor decision took by the civil government and Pak Army as this will become the reason of so many other problems in the society and also responsible for the current security situation of the country.

KP- FATA Merger:

Federally Administered Tribal Areas are still being ruled under the British-era law called Frontier Crimes Regulation Act. According to the legal experts, the British-era law called FCR Act is a breach of universal human rights disputing and opposing the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. If Pakistan wants to end terrorism and do not want a second span of Talibanization, then the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas must be given the basic rights as Pakistani nationals and consider the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas as equal like all other citizens in Pakistan. In order to give FATA a chance of betterment and restoration, the Khyber- Pakhtoon Khawa Assembly had embraced a resolution on December 14, 2016 in the favor of merging Federally Administered Tribal Areas FATA with Khyber- Pakhtoon Khawa.

All the political parties sitting in Khyber- Pakhtoon Khawa assembly approved the resolution except Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman. However, according to sources the Prime Minister has taken them into confidence and removed their doubts over the KP- FATA merger. The KP- FATA merger decision of the government would help to rehabilitate and reconstruct the infrastructure and health facilities in FATA.
