The online taxi services have become a very famous way of transport in various countries of the world. The online taxi services were also started in different cities of Pakistan as well. The company named ‘Careem’ started operating in Pakistan in October 2016. This is a company which is based in Dubai. Along with this company the companies from other countries also started their working in Pakistan. These companies include a Turkish company Albayrak which is normally known as A-Taxi and the second one is a company based in United States called Uber.

The online taxi services have developed their different mobile apps through which a customer can order the taxi where ever he/ she want. A-Taxi give an additional option of ordering the car through their 24/7 call centre which also provides customer support irrespective of Uber and Careem. The online A-Taxi services provide an extra feature of stopping the car on the road. The taxi service Uber and Careem also give the passengers the details of the driver, its name and picture and also give information about the car, its model, colour and name. The taxi service Uber and Careem also provide the customer to track the whole trip on global positioning system (GPS) from their mobile app while A-Taxis also have GPS systems installed in their cars.

Uber, Careem and A-Taxi Travelling Charges:

The online taxi services Uber, Careem and A-Taxi has fixed travelling Charges on a per kilometer basis along with a basic fare. The Turkish based online taxi company A-Taxi has the basic fare of Rs 120 and Rs 35/km but the customers can travel up to 3 km within the standard charges. The US based online taxi Uber has low rates among all of these online taxi services with a basic rent of Rs 100 and Rs 13.7/km. The minimum fare is Rs 150 for a trip. The Careem and Uber passengers can see the trip charges on their smart phones, while on the other hand A-Taxi have taxi meters fixed in the cars. The Uber and Careem online taxi services implement different marketing techniques like they offer free rides and promo codes to attract new customers.

The both these two companies have officially launched their companies in Pakistan. They have started working since October 2016 in Pakistan. Its travelling app can be easily downloadable from Google Play store. And if we talk about Careem, the online taxi service Careem is a Dubai based company launched recently in Pakistan. In Pakistan, the Careem’s headquarters are located in Karachi, Pakistan. If you have the promo code then Careem will cost you cheaper than a Rickshaw ride.

Uber- Careem Banned in Pakistan:

The online taxi services of Uber and Careem are now banned in Pakistan. The Punjab Government Provincial Transport department announced that these online taxi services are operating illegally in Pakistan. Also the notification is forwarded to the Chief Traffic officer to ban these online taxi services in Lahore. The reason to ban these Uber, Careem and other online taxi services is that they do not have route permits as they are using private cars for this purpose and in return the Punjab government has to bear huge loss. The notification about this ban shows that these online taxi services use private cars for commercial purposes which is against Pakistan’s Law, hence they should be banned.
